It’s getting hot in here

Yesterday was tour groups, and today it’s people beating the heat. But what it means is that I seem to have no writing time at all, anywhere. This too shall pass. The heat is supposed to break this weekend, although it is fire season so who knows… Once we get this mailing done at work, […]

Drive Me to a Real Bed, Chelsea Childling

A road trip with two of her best friends, away from the grey ice of the city, had sounded amazing in the beginning. She loved living out of her car with her giant dog. Stopping when she was tired or wanted to explore, wandering in whatever direction she needed to go. Neither Keegan nor Andy had enjoyed the experience. All three of them had a tendency towards snark, but when the guys slid into snide on the third day, Chelsea gave in to Andy and followed the GPS.

Vacation accomplished

I spent the Fourth as I traditionally do, painting and fixing up my house. I found a fabulous chest of drawers from the 70s that fits my living room perfectly. That in turn gave me motivation to work my end tables. I’m not done with those, but I made significant progress. Mostly though, I sat […]

Habit forming

I did remember to write my blog yesterday, what I lacked was anything to talk about. I’m writing in my head and not putting down words. And while that has always been part of my process, I didn’t feel like writing about that again. I wanted to actually talk about writing. Anyway, yes, I’m trying […]

It’s a new day, and I’m feeling good

Yes, I am. I got so much done today, and I’m finally sitting down to write. We’ll see how it works out. But I spent my day organizing, sanding, gardening and cleaning. I’m still doing small things in my kitchen, a truly endless project. And we’re trying a back porch garden, and we’re repotting refuse […]

Finding a rhythm

While sitting down to write at 11 am on Mondays is starting to feel more natural, I’m having trouble finding the time at work. For one thing, I’m now used to reading in my down time at work. I’m reading like I used to do in middle school. It’s glorious. And very hard to give […]

Finally feeling better

While the itchy eyes are still a thing, randomly, I’m finally past the super seasonal allergies. And with the warmer weather, of course, I can do more projects. However, after last year, I know I need to shift my writing times. I cannot work outside during peak sun hours. I will burn. So, writing time […]

We will, Chelsea Childling

Chelsea’s fingers drummed against her steering wheel as she glared into the dark streets. Velvet winter night had taken over most of the city, but between worrying about Jack and Amber and having to be in New York, her nerves were raw.

Seasonal Allergies Kicked My Ass

As the art show ended, I realized I had never finished editing for May’s Chelsea story. I figured I’d post the week after and apologize. But then my vacation to the coast reared it’s wonderful head from the sea, and I happily tossed all responsibilities to after-vacation-Kate. Unfortunately, after-vacation-Kate came down with the worst case […]
