Found it!

Well, I stopped the compulsive reread. I didn’t find what I wanted in the text, but I did find it. It was a bunch of sexist writers that illuminated the problem. See, we got to talking about the Bechdel Test. And has the discussion waxed and waned, someone’s contribution came down to, “Stop whining about […]

Writer’s Block

No, I’m not suffering from it, at the moment. Just thinking about it… instead of writing. I think it’s a real thing. I know authors who don’t. They really think that if you just sit and force yourself to write, any thing, you’ll get over it. And I smile and nod when they say this, […]

Nostalgia

Not much writing going on, but lots of reading. For some reason, I’ve been perusing Uncommon Animals and Monsters of Pittsburgh. Sure, I need to keep my characterization on point, and make certain that I’ve completed arcs, but it’s been an almost magnetic thing. I just can’t stop reading them, and I don’t know why. And it’s […]

Back at it

Feeling a little bit better today. Less falling asleep on my feet and more writing getting done. Though due to the emotional content I was crying as I wrote it this morning. But yes, I’m back on my feet. Next week, we’ll have another Chelsea story. So basically, hold on to ya butts! I’m back.

Tired

I’ve been sleeping a lot lately. Not sure why. Last night I zonked out at 8:30, slept 11 hours, and woke up exhausted today. So needless to say, writing has been slow. A little here and there, but mostly, it’s me aimlessly rereading for word choice. I’m gonna blame the weather, as well as the […]

It’s not about writing what you know

One of the silliest adages spouted at writers: Write what you know. If I did that I’d be writing about living in the country, doing community theater, and being a mom. Since I don’t like literary fiction… But seriously, I write about werewolves and witches, and I don’t mean pagans. So writing what I ‘know’ […]

Hedge Doctor: Prom

We are live, people! Jeff Hanson is not quite the average high school senior. He’s a hedge doctor, a witch called to heal people using herbs. His green touch not only grows plants, but enhances their magical and mystical properties. Jeff spends more time patching up monster hunters than he does in classes. But when […]

Staring

It’s also about fifty percent of writing. I’m stuck. Not horribly stuck, but stuck. Edie figured out a plot point that I wasn’t ready to deal with yet. I have to find a way to incorporate it, without sending the Red Witch careening off into the woods. I have to deal with the Trojan. He […]
