Today is my oldest kid’s birthday. So, writing is absolutely taking a back seat.

I just want to throw out a piece of advice to my fellow writers: If you’re privileged enough to beta read for someone, check your ego at the door. You’re supposed to be helping them find their voice, not trying to make them sound like you.

To many of us forget that our style is just that, ‘ours‘, ie. belonging to the writer.  You don’t have to like it or enjoy it, but you should respect it.
