I actually did get some writing done this week. Not a ton, just a few hundred words, but that tells me that writing at work isn’t working for me.
I tend to write in hyperfocus mode, which means that I can’t be interrupted. My job is hospitality based, so that doesn’t work on even mildly busy days. And we’re only going to get busier for a while. So I need a new plan.
Also, I might have to accept that I write seasonally now too. Winter and Spring might be my times to pump out words. I will be trying to find a good writing time, regardless. I’m not ready, professionally, to not write at all for months on end. I can get there. I was there before. I had a two year buffer of Chelsea stories. I will get that back. It’s so nice, mentally.
*sigh*
ANYWAY, I am taking a few days off. My oldest child graduates high school tomorrow. I have the day off from work and celebrating we’re him, which gives me a three day weekend. I still have a house to put together and furniture to build (literally). I have several projects for the summer. I have a bookcase to build, a desk to refurbish, I have to fix my daughter’s chest, ottomans to make out of tires (8 FREE tires!), and shelving for FOUR rooms to put up. And painting… so much painting…
Not all of that will get done in three days, obviously. But much of it can be started, purchased, and planned in three days… well two and half.
