Settling in

I’m finally feeling good physically, and things settling down with the art show. The lead up to the opening this weekend will be stressful, because that’s just how it is, but, really, both my boss and I are laughing at how ahead of the game we are.

And with my kitchen done being refurbished, I really should see an uptick in my writing output. Work will get busier with the summer tourists, but I have a place to write now. I do need to use it.

I’ve been laughing at myself because I love my kitchen, and my writing table, but I spent sooo much time in there painting and building and cleaning that I don’t want to mess it up. I actually haven’t been baking either, for the same reasons. Once I get in there, I start cleaning and organizing and planning to touch up corners, and seeing what else needs to be done. I can’t shut off my decorating brain.

But with the warm weather, I have less and less excuse to set up on the couch first thing in the morning. And once I build my husband’s desk, I won’t even have him as a draw. This is partially his fault. He set up my station on the couch next to his current desk. He has plugs for my phone and laptop clipped where I can reach them without bending, and there’s a empty plug for my electric blanket. That said couch is right next to the fireplace makes it really, really hard not to set up there for the day in the winter. Which he is very smug about.

Anyway, it’s sunny but chilly, so I’m hoping to set up this afternoon to bang out some words. We have a story coming this weekend too.
