Saturday Scenes

It’s that day of the week again. In honor of getting Sheepsquatch to Amazon ahead of schedule, here a scene from my upcoming novella: Matty left her to stand guard at the entrance. The store room didn’t have a door. After all, the demon hunter’s bar wasn’t a clinic. Mina smiled at his back. Modesty […]

Live tweeting part deux

Finishing off Sheepsquatch this morning. I was exhausted last night, and not up for editing. But at 9:30, I’ll be finishing off my text to speech session, before uploading the final product to Amazon. The release date is October 8, but you can pre-order now.

Live tweeting

Today at 1 PM EST, I’ll be listening to Sheepsquatch for errors and live tweeting (@EdiesHaven). The text to speech function is HILARIOUS when you write Urban Fantasy, so I’ll be entertained to no end. Hopefully, I’ll be entertaining to other people as well.

Still at it

I wish I had more to say about my writing today. That’s the real problem with the daily writing blog, not every day is exciting. Especially not when I’m editing. I’m mostly picking apart sentences and debating word choice. Making sure POV is consistent and makes sense. Nothing that really changes the plot or is […]

Looking for a post

Yeah, I’ve been staring at the screen for a few moments, trying to think of something to write.  Things are pretty quiet here. The kids are at school. Sheepsquatch is more or less ready to go.   I’ll listen to it the audio tomorrow (and I’ll live tweet it), but really that’s for my peace […]

Tell yourself the Story

This… just this. The concept blew my mind this weekend. To me there’s a lot of truth here. At least, how I see my writing. Okay, stop, back up and explain. I’ve now written 15 stories with Matty, Mina, Rick, and Sam.  Most of my editing is explaining actions and reactions to readers. Occasionally, even […]

Saturday Scenes

This weeks offering is from Succubus: “So, what do we do?” She paused. “No idea just yet. Usually by now Matty tells me what to attack.” Rick snorted as the thralled waitress hurried to an area roped off by velvet. He pointed to a man with a crew cut, dressed in black sitting by […]

The question

Every writer (likely every artist has their version of this too) has been told to ‘write the story you want to read’ or ‘It’s your story, write whatever you want.’ But every writer has also been told, ‘You have to give the audience what it wants’ or ‘People don’t read x’ or ‘People are tried […]

Are you a quitter?

No time for a long blog post with the inevitable typos. Nope I have stuff to do today. Scenes to rewrite and a bathroom that needs scrubbing. So this one goes out to Susan, who needed a little motivation today as well: Look here , you got two choices, get it done or give up! […]

Prepping

The month is winding down, which means publishing time for me. I have lots of stuff on my mind, tweaking my covers, how to promote, and the all consuming proofreading. I’ll probably sit down and let the computer read to me next week. I’ll live tweet it, because the robot computer voice is HILARIOUS when […]
