Meeting with Ashley, my artist today. As I watched her put the shading on the cover of the comic, we nattered on the topic of eyes.

Now, Ashley takes a lot of inspiration from Disney and various manga, so eyes are super important. The reason those characters have huge eyes, to make their emotions more palpable to the audience.

Now me, I tend to describe eyes a lot. My characters show a lot of emotions with their eyes. Which might be part of why Ashley was so keen to work with me.

I do have to admit that describing eyes is a touch of a crutch with me. It’s one of my go-to things while writing.

Still, it’s something nice that we have in common as artistic partners. We both love eyes.
