Still Going

I was really hoping to finish this story yesterday. I know how it ends, I know the monster, and I have a few more scenes and dialogues to add in. I have this story.

But finding the words to express that scene in my mind and the emotions I know are there… that’s the hard part. I’m getting there, and most importantly, I’m getting there the way I used to. I used to write in fits and starts as I did chores about the house and took care of my kids. And I’m starting to do it again.

Yes, I did on oaccasion sit and write for hours and hours, but it was on occasion. My ADHD brain likes about 45 mins of activity and then needs a break, unless I hit hyperfocus and then there are no breaks.

But there was no hyperfocus yesterday and I never have been able to count on the ability. It comes when it comes. I can encourage it, but I don’t control it.

That being said, I’m almost done with this story. Which is good because I still need to finish next month’s Chelsea story, but I’m not worried about it. If I can get back to my old writing habits, I’ll have a buffer in no time.
